Shit so I pitched a short comic fight scene to Popgun about human sized cyborg mechas being controlled by humans from their computers and battling it out in a hyper-surreal rainy city - turns out I was ripping off James Cameron’s AVATAR unknowingly, making me feel like a douche, however also making me remember this scene from Richard Linklater’s Waking Life - fast forward to about 2:30...

CIGARETTES, SUNRISES, AND SEAGULLS
Saw this years ago on television while I was passing in and out of sleep - thought it was great but couldn’t track down who it was. Recently read an issue of Homme and there was a black and white photograph(of Jimmy Scott) in it, remembered his face using my Jason Bourne-like facial recognition skills. Hunted this down using interwebetry. Jimmy Scott - Slave To Love (live) by nikornplay

I’m often having those dreams where you come across a monograph of an artist’s work or walk into an exhibition and it is everything you every wanted to do and make if only you had the time or the resources or if your ideas developed further and further into something perfect. I would feel joy from seeing the works exist, but immediately afterward become angry, jealous, and bitter that...

I Don't Know, Maybe
This was the drypoint that I was doing for the Subtext show that stuffed up. This was the first proof that came out, obviously I wasn’t pressing hard enough in some areas so I went back into it to reinforce some cross-hatching and in doing so obliterated out chunks of the image with blacks that were way too heavy. I never had much patience for etching in any of its forms. Click for a more...

I want to learn Zbrush so I can make busts and figures and export them to Maya and then rapid prototype them and cast them in different coloured multiples and make little collectible figurines from my garage. That plan will probably involve going back to school and student life, which doesn’t sound too bad.

Now She Only Dates White Guys
This is a character I drew in 2005. I remember tracing him from a fashion shoot from The Face magazine and naming him after a pair of new shoes I bought. He is pretty much a rip-off of Joe from Battle Of The Planets except he feels solely responsible for the death of his whole team - if you could imagine the last Power Ranger on earth being the Red Ranger in a sort of Hal Jordan/Parallax...

I'm Not Done With You
Not that it is particularly interesting or anything but you may have noticed I have reformatted my blog. Not only is it super-basic and easier to read - the best part is that I no longer have to put images through photoshop and resize them manually to the page width - which was taking ages and was too much trouble for me to blog about shit and making me really slow with the updates. With a little...

Unfinished Business, Daedalus?
Inspired by interest in the striking dress codes of various social groups, Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek have systematically documented numerous identities. They call their series ’Exactitudes’: a contraction of ’exact’ and ’attitude’. By registering their subjects in an identical framework they provide an almost scientific record of people’s...
