There are, however, those who tip the scale the other way – those who put the cart before the horse; those for whom “being a creative” is a label they look to project more than prove. These people are the turgid plague of pseudo-artistes that have come to dominate the creative world.


Socialites, sycophants, scenesters and nightclub promoters masquerading as writers, photographers and designers. It is all about the Instagram photos of the iBooks, at the chic cafes, with the novel and notepad curiously just in frame. It is about raping the precious commodity of creativity for one’s own notoriety, and turning it into an insipid quote to post on someone’s wall.
